Marie was mentioned in UNAM (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico) Magazine, highlighting and promoting the World Premiere of her piece “Terra Fungorum” at the world-renowned Sala Nezahualcóyotl, interpreted by the versatile Orquesta Universitaria Juvenil de Eduardo Mata (OJUEM) and conducted by guest Conductor Mark Kadin. The piece was composed under the auspice of the Cátedra Extraordinaria Arturo Márquez de Composición Musical, as a scholarship recipient for the year 2022.
“Marie Gabrielle Blix possesses a great talent for contemporary music, which coincides with a particular interest of mine in conducting current music: I consider it necessary for new generations, both performers and audiences, to know the works of living authors, close to them, as in this case.”
- Mark Kadin, Conductor

"Terra fungorum recalls the vital interconnection between the elements of nature. Intriguing and versatile beings, fungi inhabit the earth, the air and our bodies. From the microscopic to its Wood Wide Web, an underground network that, like the Internet, connects plants and trees. These fascinating characteristics wove their own web in the thought of Marie Gabrielle Blix, who gave life to Terra fungorum, a work that in her own words “aims to absorb the listener into its kingdom, from the surface to the ancestral and spiritual.”
