A B O U T
Marie Gabrielle Blix is a Mexican composer with a deep passion for weaving stories through music. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, where she earned degrees in Film Scoring, Composition, and Conducting, she has crafted music for film, dance, and concert stages, seamlessly blending a variety of genres and styles with the use of contemporary and unusual expressive resources.
Her compositions have been performed by prestigious ensembles and orchestras like the Filarmónica de Querétaro and the Orquesta Juvenil Universitaria Eduardo Mata (OJUEM). Marie’s symphonic debut with her piece Terra Fungorum was performed by OJUEM under the baton of Mark Kadin, at the world-renowned Sala Nezahualcóyotl,—a testament to her ability to evoke vivid imagery through sound. Other significant venues where her work has been showcased include the Teatro Metropolitano in Querétaro and the Museo Universitario de Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC) in Mexico City.
Marie has received numerous accolades, including the Vuk Kulenovik/Memorial Prize in 2020 from the Composition Department at Berklee, recognized as one of the best composition students of the year. She was selected for the 2022 Cátedra Extraordinaria Arturo Márquez de Composición Musical, a highly selective and renowned one-year program to study with award-winning Mexican composer Arturo Márquez.
In film, Marie has scored numerous independent short films featured at international festivals, including the award-winning Tampón, which earned Best National Short Film at the Corto Creativo UDCI Festival. Her role as a composer assistant at DAD Music Productions allowed her to contribute to high-profile projects like the feature film Es Por Su Bien, nominated for two Premios Produ, and the Disney+ series Mamá Cake.
Marie’s passion for dance is reflected in her multidisciplinary project, DONUM, where she collaborates with choreographer Yazmin Barragán and dancers from Compañía Nacional de Danza de México. She has also collaborated as a pianist, vocalist, orchestrator, arranger, transcriber, and copyist with various artists, bands, and organizations, including Netflix Mexico and Candela Entertainment for promotional events of the series One Piece and Queen Charlotte.
